Our combined business employs over 375 people and has the capacity to handle over 1.75 million items of linen a week through two state-of-the-art production facilities which means we have a huge amount of support behind us for a company only four years old.
Afonwen have invested over £17 million since 1999 buying the best laundry equipment in the world from Kannegiesser - the worldwide market leader in supplying laundry equipment.
Our production facilities have five giant washing machines that each take 50kg of linen each every 2 minutes of the working day. We have nine ironers each specialising in processing key products – sheets, table linen, duvet covers and smaller items such as napkins and pillowcases and we have total flexibility to put different products through different ironers so that we can produce the work, even when there’s a need for some planned preventative maintainence work.
We've also heavily invested in automatic towel folding machines, enabling customers to receive perfectly folded towels.
We've has also been at the forefront of adopting the latest state-of-the-art quality control measures by becoming the first linen hire company in the world to install a fully automatic quality control scanning technology system on every ironing line that it has in its production facilities enbling us to provide a superior quality to more traditional operators.
This enables us to carefully monitor to the quality of all major items of linen through the production line before they are sent out to customers, with items not meeting the standard required rejected before they are sent out to ensure customers receive a consistent quality all year round.
